#15. Give examples of prejudice. Identify the most common types of prejudice in our community, in the U.S., and in the world. Explain why these types of prejudice are destructive.
Prejudice is a premature judgment, a positive or negative attitude towards a person or group of people. Based on beliefs and not facts, it can affect a person’s emotions and behavior, often leading to discrimination. Prejudice beliefs are usually based on stereotypes and overall impressions, believing all members of a particular group are the same. It is believed that people are not born prejudice, but are usually formed against groups a person has never had contact with.
#16. Write about the meaning of COURAGE. Give examples of courageous behavior. Which kinds (or examples) of courage seem to be most admirable?
The meaning of courage is when you are brave enough to stand up to someone and defend yourself, then you could consider yourself courageous. For example, If someone was picking on a person at your school and you went up to them and to them to back off, then you would be courageous. That is what the meaning of courage is you are brave, and not afraid to voice your opinion, or at least that is what I would consider courage, I don't know what other people would consider courage.
#17. How do you act, speak, or dress differently according to which group you are with? (For example, you probably don’t talk to your parents, grandparents, boss, or teachers the same way you talk to your friends.)
Why do you make these adjustments?
Do you think it’s hypocritical or false to make such changes? Why or why not?
Which person is the real you?
I think that I do talk to my parents, or boss, or whatever else you can think of because, I respect them and think they're awesome, well mainly my parents. I act a little different around my friends but mostly the same. The reason I think that I sometimes act this way is because, sometimes people like me just want to act differently. For me I don't think it is false to make these changes but for other people I think that they do it just to mess with people. The person that I think is real would probably be Melissa, a 6th grader from TPLC.
#18. Chapters 12-15: What is your definition of a MOB? How does mob behavior differ from individual behavior? How would you handle an angry mob, as opposed to an angry individual?
My definition of MOB is a crowed of people that are all formed together against or I guess you can be with someone too. Like if someone is mad at you in a really bad way they could, start an angry mob and come after you. Then you would have to hide out for a while until everything cools off, but I've heard of angry mobs lasting for day or even weeks. The stereotypical angry mob is, a mob that comes after you with pitch forks and torches, they try to torch everything that you have or where you live at. With the pitch forks they try to stab things and I think sometimes they throw them close to you to scare you and try and petrify you. That is what mobs are and I hate them so, that is why I would hate having a mob come after me, I wouldn't want to be stabbed torched or anything other than those you can think of.
